22 Mar WCW- Justine Erickson
When I first met my March WCW, I was wearing a sailor costume teaching my boss how to play beer pong at a Salon hosted Halloween Party. A part of me wishes I were joking right now, but the other part of me is smiling because I’m not. Had you told me then I’d be writing this today, I would have never believed you. I would have been thrilled, however, to know that Justine Erickson would still be making me laugh! Her humor is only one of the many reasons I asked her to sit down with me this month! From our love of dogs, to our passion in small business, we could sit and chat for hours.
For years now, I’ve been fortunate enough to have her in my chair every couple months. Although we’d usually chat about the latest celebrity gossip, we’d always circle around to new professional developments as well. When she told me she was launching her Coaching Business, I knew I wanted to work with her in whatever way I could! I invited her to attend a Networking Event and a few weeks later we grabbed coffee to chat further on my business. I was over-the-moon excited to finally be a client of her’s! I’ve since attended a workshop hosted by her and her husband Ed, also a Business Coach, and have worked with her one-on-one over three individual coaching sessions to fine tune my own business goals.
Meet Justine Erickson- Owner of Get Clarity Coaching
When did you decide you wanted to start your business?
About a year ago, I decided to start a Coaching Business. I’ve been an entrepreneur with a successful market research business for many years. But along with success, their were hard times too and I wanted to impart what I’ve learned and help other entrepreneurs on their journey. Enterpreneurs are some of the bravest people I know. But taking that risk of owning your own business can also be lonely. I’ve felt that way too and knew that I wanted to fill that void for other business owners and be their trusted source of support and guidance.
Who has been your biggest mentor and what have you learned from them?
My friend and writing teacher, Arlene Malinowski. She taught me that when things get crazy, to ‘own’ it and learn from it. Because good or bad, there’s a lesson (and a story) in everything we experience.
What would you consider to be your biggest success?
Building and maintaining strong relationships. The ability to connect and support each other is so important. No matter who you are or what you do for a living, having an authentic connection with others, I believe, is essential to happiness, success and prosperity.
Where would you like to see your business go in the next year?
I’d like to develop further resources and educational offerings for my clients. More workshops, more webinars…more ways to empower and inspire small business owners!
Why should someone hire you?
I’m committed to the success of small business owners. That means I will tell them what they need to hear about their business (even when it’s not what they want to hear). Honesty is key to the coach/client relationship. Also, I truly understand the challenges of small business development — as a coach and as an entrepreneur.
And just for fun, what’s the one beauty product you can’t live without?
Raw, unscented organic shea butter. It’s the best moisturizer I’ve used for face & body — especially during cold, dry Chicago winters.
Wherever you’re at in your business, it is so valuable to have someone to hold you accountable and encourage you along the way. I am so very happy to have Justine in my corner!
