20 Nov Giving Back with Soles 4 Souls
Sometimes I take simple things for grated. I forget to appreciate the warmth of my home and the comfortable clothes I wear. This time of year I am so much more aware of those less fortunate, my heart hurts for so many who are in need. After the recent tragedies our own country has suffered, it is crucial that we each put the effort forth to give back in any way we are able.
Looking further, those in poverty around the world need our help as well. Researching ways to give back in a way that is bigger than just giving, I found Soles 4 Souls. I immediately connected with their mission. Not only do they focus on giving shoes to those in need because of tragedy, but they’ve also found a way to help so many pull themselves out of poverty.
Founded in 2006, Soles 4 Souls has since distributed over 30 million pairs of shoes in all 50 states and 127 countries! They have two pathways for giving back. The first is in donating new shoes to those in need thanks to donations from Partners like Adidas, Reebok, Puma, and New Balance.
The second is by collecting donations of new and gently used shoes for their Micro-Enterprise Program. This program allows Entrepreneurs in developing countries to start small businesses. Learn all about this unique program here.
Who else has pairs and pairs of shoes they’re not regularly wearing? As I read more and more about Soles 4 Souls, I became more and more inspired to clean out my own closets and start a Shoe Drive. I’ve already collected 20 pairs of shoes Jon and I aren’t wearing. Through the end of the year, I’ll be collecting all donations to benefit Soles 4 Souls.
I’ve also asked my fabulous client, Doctor Kaye Lagdaan of Lincoln Foot & Ankle Center, to host a donation drop off option at her location. Her practice is located at 4112 N. Lincoln Ave.
If you’d like to donate a pair or two, or if you’re interested in collecting donations, please contact me here. My goal is to collect 300 pairs! With your help, I know we can give back in a way that truly strengthens others around the world.
