03 Feb Beat the Winter Blues- Embellish Chicago
February is here. Although it’s technically the shortest month of the year, February always seems so long to me! Here in Chicago, we are struggling to push through this home stretch of winter. Soon the days will be longer and the sun will shine!
In the meantime, I’m always looking for creative ways to stay warm while looking cute! I also value the ease of a ponytail or hiding under a hat! For my last post in my Beat the Winter Blues series, I collaborated one of my favorite Northcenter neighborhood accessory and jewlery boutiques, Embellish Chicago!
Embellish features unique products from independent, local and global artists. It’s been one of my favorites since moving into the Lincoln Square neighborhood. When I met Carrie, the owner of Embellish, we discussed my constant need to look pulled together while working. In the salon, it’s important to me that I look the part! Who wants beauty advice from someone who can’t be bothered to style themselves!? She had the perfect recommendations!
How does a Hairstylist pull off a ponytail? Loose wave, wispy fringe, and this By Lilla Hair tie/Bracelet! I’m obsessed with this accessory. I hate black hair ties on my wrist, these are so stylish! Paired with my favorite baseball cap and this super warm Karen Poncho by Shiraleah, I’m out the door in five minutes!
Last week I mentioned one of my favorite products, dry shampoo! I wash my hair two or three times a week. For those days I should probably have washed it, but just don’t have the time, this Knit Planter Hat by F.U. Clothing is a perfect option! It sits perfectly slouched for indoor and outdoor wear. I’m so excited to sit down with this local Chicago designer, Jennifer, later this month!
Lastly, we aren’t out of the woods yet. It is February and cold weather is inevitable. Carrie suggested two of her favorite outdoor options, and once again, she was spot on! This Knit Hat from Frost Hats is adorable! I love the whimsy of the Pom, a little reminder not to take yourself so seriously! For the remaining really cold days, this Blanket Scarf by Shiraleah is heaven. SO warm. And the colorful pattern really pops against my black down coat.
Carrie selects products with a story. She values knowing the products and artists so she can share the story behind the product with her customers. I loved walking around the shop with her hearing all about the designers and materials! Follow them on Instagram for the newest social mission based products available!
Thank you so much, Embellish Chicago!
